You probably shorted something by crossing a bare wire. How is beyond me as the wires should be covered

SHOULD. Make sure you have no bare wires. That's a no-no..

you fried something.. i hope that didint fry the iat sensor section of th ecu cuircuit board... something is shorting out to cause that or something is not right... i guess you get no problems when the sensor is unplugged?.. have you used a volt meter and turn the key on and see what kind of voltage its putting out at the plug with the key turned?

The sensor is DEFIENTLY BAD if the tip melted.. I don't think changing the ECU would affect it.

Leaving a sensor unplugged shouldnt cause problems shorting and catching fire unless it touches another wire.

moro ill check the voltage on the plug :/ if i open my ecu would it be visible if i fried something?

and yes, everything is good without the sensor on it. and if it was a p28, it wouldnt have that sensor cuircuit board to read would it?

Did you change the ecu? That sensor is basically a resistor, if 12 volts went straight through it somehow, its going to do that, something got hooked up wrong

If you were replacing the harness you probably swapped the IAT for the EVAP. The IAT only sends 5V the EVAP 12V. What color are the wires going to your IAT?
