CIVIC INTAKE AIR TEMPERTURE SENSOR got fire??
hey ht. today i swapped my intake to a short ram "96 civic" and i forgot to put in the temperture sensor back in and when i switched the key to on(II) and i saw smoke comming from underneath my hood and when i looked my temperture sensor was melting! the sensor was sitting intop of the engine harness and the tip of the sensor was melting! anyone have any idea why this would happen???

You probably shorted something by crossing a bare wire. How is beyond me as the wires should be covered

you fried something.. i hope that didint fry the iat sensor section of th ecu cuircuit board... something is shorting out to cause that or something is not right... i guess you get no problems when the sensor is unplugged?.. have you used a volt meter and turn the key on and see what kind of voltage its putting out at the plug with the key turned?

moro ill check the voltage on the plug :/ if i open my ecu would it be visible if i fried something?
and yes, everything is good without the sensor on it. and if it was a p28, it wouldnt have that sensor cuircuit board to read would it?

Did you change the ecu? That sensor is basically a resistor, if 12 volts went straight through it somehow, its going to do that, something got hooked up wrong

you can open the ecu and look for burns for example:

If you were replacing the harness you probably swapped the IAT for the EVAP. The IAT only sends 5V the EVAP 12V. What color are the wires going to your IAT?
