Default Civic HX Intake Interchangability (SP? LoL)

I've been looking around for a nice intake, and since I'm low on budget (REALLY LOW... lol) So I've decided to go for the E-bay intake since I heard its pretty good (Yes I do plan on changing the filter for a K&N). But it seems that none of these auctions have one for a 97 Honda Civic HX. So I was wondering if any of the other models (Like CX, DX, EX, SI, etc.) Might happen to fit my car? Any help would be greatley appreciated, seeing as my current (stock) Air filter is dirty as hell lol. So thanks for all who can help!

He's right. I bought the EX intake and it fits fine. They have the exact same fitment, actually. Same sensor positions and everything.

Yeah go with the EX. I know the DX or LX (maybe both) has the vertical TB and you dont want that one. Let us know how those ebay intakes workout.
It is cool seeing people stick with the Y5. I wanna see someone make som e good power from it. I was on my way there but I came to the conclusion that working on your daily driver isnt a good thing. I need to find a beater Honda and another Y5.

Yea that'd be pretty sick boosting it since it has only one gear and no shift points... (LOnnNGgG *** TuRbO SpOOLiN and No TuRbO LAg!) don't think it would be good for a daily driver though lol Correct me if im wrong

Yeah you should shut your mouth. I jut took my turbo kit off not because of driveability due to the HX tranny or engine but because of a blown hewadgasket. And I told myself I would never turbo another daily driver. Seems like I always have down time. I daily droive my turboed Y5 and it was great. If you have never drove one, dont speak on it. And where are you getting this one gear **** from?

More people should stick with the Y5 if they have one. IT wasnt a bad engine and when more people get into it, it will stop people from saying dumb **** like you just did.

I'm not really talking about the Y5 I'm talking about the damn CVT Tranny.

Lol I think that CVT tranny will blow to pieces as soon as you get a little extra power to it. That thing is made to handle that motor and that it. CVT trannies are really weak.

The only differences between the EX tranny and the HX tranny are 3rd and 5th gears. Do a little research next time. BTW, learn to drive a stick. People don't fix up automatic cars for a reason.

Default I have boosted a cvt civic

I have boosted a 1997 D15 cvt civic with great results. For those who say that the cvt trannies are too weak, all I can say is that mine works fine.

It's a great daily driver and I drag and autocross the car with great results.

My set-up is:

1997 civic h/b
D15b non vtec
CVT tranny
home-made turbo kit with
t-28 turbo
starlet intercooler sitting in the engine bay (can you say heat soak)
8psi
vortech fmu
msd 6 btm

result: mid 15's at 94 mph

For those of you who say that mid 15's do not equate to 94 mph, the tranny is soooo slow off the line that I honestly cannot do better than 2.9-3.0 60 ft times, but once the turbo spools and the cvt gets up on rpm, the car flies. The trap speed will attest to that.

I am in the process of installing an old model supra intercooler front-mounted, so I will be expecting low 15's at 95 mph????

If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at [email protected]
