its hard to tell what it could be without hearing it in person. a guess might be a bad motor mount? have you looked around the engine bay at all?

Did you use special tranny fluid for the CVT?
Mine is doing this and the dealership told me it is a common problem of the CVT tranny & needed a new Start Clutch, $300 + $500 labor
So I bought everything to convert it to manual

i have never changed the fluid. did you try to get a second opnion on what the problem could be and how many miles do you have on your civic?

Would it be better to get the tranny flushed or just change the fluid?

I never changed mine since I got the car 1.5 yr ago. The tranny was already making the shaking vibration when I bought it. I checked the fluid level and topped it off though.

It is a common problem, do a search archive for CVT and I bet all the threads that come up have the same problem as yours and mine.

Mine was shaking when I bought it and 1.5 yr later I have put 12,000 miles on it. It has gotten a tiny bit worse. Now I give it gas easier from a stop, I'm hoping that might make it wear slower. It only needs to last 5 months before I put it down for surgery.

when we took out the old tranny fluid it was mucky and kinda brownish clear and it felt watery, we just picked up some automatic trany fluid from autozone, the new fluid was red and felt oily and a little thick. i beleave its under 10 bucks per bottle. the tranny runs fine and theres no more noise and no more rattle/vibration when you accelerate, it doesnt really matter what brand it is becuase as long as its better than the old fluid. you should try this first before you buy a new tranny. it should last at least 10,000 more miles. it did for my brothers hx untill he tradded it for a gsr

Those trannies arent cheap. I saw a few on ebay and the cheapest was like 1600. My HX is manual, but if I had a autotragic, I would have converted instead of messing with that crap

don't flush... just change the fluid.

once you drain the fluid -- add a bottle of Lucas Tranny Fluid fix. This stuff is THICK!! then finish off with a few quarts of tranny fluid.

Lucas is the best stuff on the market for trannies.
