Did you check your climate control? If the slider switch for the hot and cool feels real loose it may be that the connecting wire behind it is loose. Most of the time it's just your climate control.
Also check your control valve by the firewall, its a valve that opens and closes to let coolant in. If the valve no longer opens and closes then it's your climate control panel.

Anyways...
It could be any of a number of problems:
1. A low coolant level - you did that
2. check if coolant is reaching the heater core - feel both heater hoses. Both the inlet and outlet return hoses should feel hot when the engine is at normal operating temperature and the heater is on.
Have you changed something in there lately? - could be aire bubbles in the system.
3. A defective heater control valve - To test the control valve, apply vacuum with a hand pump
4. A plugged heater core. Accumulated crud in the cooling system may plug the core and block the flow of coolant.
5. An bad airflow control or inlet door in the heater ducting or plenum. If the defrosters aren't working either, you've found the problem. Sometimes all that's needed to fix the problem is to reattach or repair a loose cable or vacuum hose. On vacuum-actuated systems, however, the vacuum motor or control switch may be defective and require replacement.
good luck.

Re: (DOHCKLR)
does the rod connecting to that white plastic connector move when you change between hot and cold? Can't you tell what is broke on it? Not sounding smart but it's hard to see in a standing still pic what isn't moving. If that rod isn't moving i would say it could be that rod is broken before that white plastic piece somewhere. good luck and let us know if you find anything.

Re: (GARBhatch.)
the rod connection to the white plastic piece does move.. i cant really tell what is broke either.. i know that when i move the slider to the left and right the rode moves but the white plastic piece does move to the cold side but whenever i move the sldier to the right something does not catch and the white piece doesnt move to the heat position. BUt i can manually move that white piece to the heat position. After i move the white piece to the heat position and if i move the slider to the cold position the white piece goes into the cold position but right after that if i move the slider to heat it wont move..
