Default civic headlights..please help!!!!

my boyfriend recently just installed new headlights on his 98 ex. ever since the new headlights, they have been incredibly dim. his high beams are way worse than his low beams should normally be. you can probably see like 6 feet in front of you. it seems unlikely to me that his bulbs are dead because like any lightbulb..wouldn't they just go out..not get dim? and what are the chances of them both going out at the same time?? what do you think the problem could be? do you think if could have something to do with the alternator..or voltage? the rest of his car is running fine... what could be causing this?? please help!

id say go to autozone and have them check your electrical system for free. (sounds like it might be the alternator or something related to it)

Default

Step 1:
Put Another H4 bulb in there. doesnt have to be new. If same happens refer to step 2.

Step 2:
While the replacement bulb is inside have someone accelerate the car to see the brightness increases and dims like it would on a motorcycle. If that happens = alternator. (to test alternator, remove positive from battery and car should stay on, if not, alternator for sure) if not step 3.

Step 3:
Go to a certified mechanic to check it out. Battery? Fuses?
