civic hatch rear disc conversion questions....
after spending quite some time in the archives, it seems as if that many people if not all change out the proportioning valve along with the MC and/or brake booster with their rear disc conversion
so here's the deal... i NEED to change the shoes/drums in the rear and i figure, while i'm here i might as well switch to the discs...
i get a fairly good deal on a set of rear trailing arms and e-brake lines... $150-$200...
however, my funds dont meet a proportioning valve let alone MC and/or brake booster... at least for two more weeks till i get paid again...
can i seriously drive around to and from school and work (around 100miles) a week without a snag? i know that the distribution will be uneven, but will it work?
(or is it the same as "do i have to run aftermarket springs with my cam?")
thanks all...
oh yeah and btw, its from a 92 integra... the setup will work, right? (just confirming what i've already read)

i think you'll be ok. i had full gsr brakes with the stock MC and prop valve. i had to step on the pedal almost to the floor to stop, but it stopped normally

Re: (dantastic)
Ive been rolling on the stock mc/prop valve for months now. Actually the 4040 prop valve everyboyd touts will bais the brakes too much to the rear and they'll lock up before the fronts. The smaller MC will make the pedal mushy twoards the top of the pedal travel, but you'll be more than fine.

you guys are right, it will be changed out in due time, but they also said it was fine for the time being...

After the swap, the feel of the brakes was certainly better, but the increased travel of the pedal was quite disconcerting. Brake balance was pretty unchanged, but the fronts tended to lock up before the rears. So, as expected, I later went ahead and swapped out the master cylinder and proportioning valve. You can read about that here.

oh yeah, how long did it take you? assuming there is no bs to go through... (i dont wanna end up with any down time...)

You can swap out the rears in less than 4 hours easily. I was doing mine while I had my tranny out and had to wait on bearings, so I didn't rush and it took me no time at all. Its just unbolting, rebolting and bleeding the new lines/rotors.

Re: (Ricey McRicerton)
more questions... as they come....
what if i dont have the rear upper control arm, and the front arm that attaches to the body.... still bolt on to a 92 hatch? that and the nagging question of 94-00 integra's or 90-00?
thanks all....
