Revving idle (bouncing from normal idle to higher RPM) is usually a vacuum leak/ idle set incorrectly. Dying idle (bouncing from at or close to normal idle downward to almost stalling) can come from almost anything else. Bogging when you floor it from a stop is usually weak ignition. Hope this helps find the problem.

If it doesn't bog when you floor it from a stop then the ignition probably isn't the main problem. The most likely causes are compression & timing. Timing's easier to check but the comp sounds more likely.

Have you checked the plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and ignition timing?

Any CEL codes?
