Civic EX coupe vs Civic Si coupe
Just a question. Can someone tell me if the Civic Si is "that much" different than a non-Si?
Ok, I know the engine, bars, brakes, wheels etc.
Assume both are the same condition, will you pay more for the Si?
If I was to test drive both, will I feel any difference?

Not down low they both are torque less, but once you get around 5K the Si will come out on top. 127hp vs 160 and about 7 ftlbs of TQ over the D

People around my area says the difference between the two motors is si just has an extra cam on it. They both pretty much 1.6. In my opinion, I would pay more for the si then the ex. Drive wise, I feel the difference from driving a sohc to a dohc.

only difference in the motors is.. everything. what a silly statement to make. I guess another 30hp isn't anything special either.

meh, i honestly care more about 99-00 and 96-98 than ex to si.
the differences between ex and si trims are SUBTLE compared to the differences between civics 96-98 and 99-00

The nose is different, tail lights are different, as you mentioned the cc(more specifically the 2 din, ac control, and also the cupholders).. Besides that theres not much...ex and si have the same luxury options for the most part, the si is just a tiny bit sportier. It's like comparing a dx to cx, besides the small amount of stuff the dx has that the cx doesnt that makes it more lightweight (like a rear wiper off the top of my head) they're pretty similar

Can you guys tell me if the transmission is the same? The steering is the same? So outside of the motor, the drivetrain is the same, correct?

get yourself an ex and call it a day and if you ever want an si just swap out the d16y8 sell it, add a little extra and get yourself a b16a2 or a little more power b18c1 and no one will even know it an si or a gsr under the hood. if it was me i get the ex and use the extra cash i save up to turbo it and get a tune and which would run you just about or a little more than an si would cost but would leave si in the dust. only reason i would get the si is if the were about in the same price range.

No one will know its not an Si? Come one.
If you get an ex at least go with a color that can pass off as an Si.
Blue, red, black. Ebp, Mr , well you get the pic. At the end of th day.....the VIN carries the weight. A clean title Si sells for more then an Ex all day

Si is cool to have for the cool factor but an EX is a good choice although i personally prefer a hatchback civic

Re: Civic EX coupe vs Civic Si coupe
A em1 is worth more.
Its also considered more rare over an ej8.
Em1 only came in 3 colors.
Em1 had a complete lip kit along with a different spoiler over the ej8.
Em1 had dohc stickers and si logos etc....
It also had front/rear disc and upgraded suspension all around.
Interior is dark grey and had different pattern on the seats.
It has a different cluster and the dash lights was amber.
The steering wheel and shift **** is different.
Also exhaust is different.
The em1 has a b16a2 dohc over the y8 sohc.
The b16 transmission is short geared and helps the lil b16 accelerate faster.
Overall a em1 is a better car IMO stock vs stock and is a lot more fun to drive.

Re: Civic EX coupe vs Civic Si coupe
So besides the obvious differences (motor, interior, brakes, grill) There are differences in the chassis. The Si has a reinforced rear sub frame for the added stress of the rear sway bar. The front control arms are formed steel pieces vs. solid cast iron. The front sway bar is bigger and has a different mounting method. The rack and pinion is has a shorter ratio. There is more, I just can't remember.
