Hey guys! First off, this is my first thread here on HT so please excuse me if I created the thread in wrong section lol. Anyway, I'm having a slight problem fitting an EK center console in my EG. I read a couple of guides on various forums where people actually managed to fit them, but none of the guides were complete/thorough. Where i'm stuck at is that when you try to fit the console, the dashboard support at the back of the OEM ashtray/cigarette lighter console won't let it sit. What do I do to it ? I can't just cut it all off ... dashboards gonna make hell lot of noise once i do that (it already makes enough noises). So please tell me, what sort of brackets should I make so that even if I cut the support, i can still make some bracket and keep the dash intact.

i just put an ek center console in my eg8 a gew weeks ago, and I love it! definitely a cheaper alternative to the optional console.... i cut off part of the metal bracket, because I realized if i took the whole metal frame out, it would probably effect my dash like you said... ill post a pic of the piece of the bracket that I cut off, and if I have time ill take pic of what it looks like where i cut... but I followed the tutorial form an ozhonda site(australia)

thats funny, because when I looked at it I thought the same thing, I think its just the picture, but its pretty straight in the car, and you can see where i put rubber trim where the ek console meets the part left of the eg console, and the trim is definitely crooked

ozh_hawaiian bro check your pm! Also i'm able to install the center console now JUST not with the CUPHOLDER TRAY. If i do that, it hits the metal support at the back ..... any ideas ?

I have a EK console in my EG. first. you will need both sections of the EK console, cup/shifter half and the arm rest half. Remove the EG console. and on the EK console you'll have to trim the top area (yellow) so that it contours with the EG upper console. Once you have a clean fit. get some wood screws (I used some old speaker screws I had laying around) and use the screw holes from the EK to screw the console to the EG plastics. If you really want to, you can make a rear mount to hold down the armrest but mine doesn't wobble around and its held on by the seats anyway.

I made my own bracket to hold the console in the original spot, and you can see where I cut into that aluminum... the second picture is how I had to trim the ashtray holder

OO now i get it. But bro, since you've cut the support at the back except for the rod one, doesn't it affect your dash integrity ? Any weird sounds on bumps ?

nope no problems with my dash, I think the rod holds most of the weight, and i think that other piece behind the ashtray is supported in other places... now start cutting! I used tin snips

I guess i'll be cutting too then . BUT i'll give it support from the back, i'll add a bracket to the old support just incase.

I know this is old, i knew someone had a way to get a radio in the lower Din rather than the stock location. Yes!!!! Thank s man been searching for this part to complete my console
