Default civic eg cluster/interior lighting woes

hello all
i just picked up my 1st civic eg

its a teal 94 cx

got a few things done to it

BUT

i need to fix something quickly.
the cluster and interior lighting stay on when the lights are off. and with the key out as well. however, when i turn the lights or running light on, they all turn off (making night driving hard cause i cant see the speedometer)

i thought maybe the dimmer switch was broken because it didnt do anything, so i unplugged it and found that its just three wires dangling.... awesome right?

well i thought maybe it just needed continuity to make it work. to i tapped two of them together at a time and blew the fuse.
replaced the fuse and now the lights and headlight still work.
BUT the interior and cluster do not light up at all. switch on or off....
anyone know what i should look at? or have any free or cheap wiring diagrams?

thanks!

i would prob. start with getting a plug and wiring it back up correctly so that you know its plugged in and to assume its working correctly.... then see what it does... and go from there. not sure why it would do the switching on to off but there are def wiring problems to figure out... especially seeing that the dimmer wires are just hanging there..

just found out the dude was a terrible wiring dude.
those 3 wires i dont think went to it.
i fixed it though it all works
minus dimmer

the dude had the ground as a 12v constant instead of a ground
so when it was off the light switch grounded the circut. illuminating the lights
when the light switch was on it sent 12v also, turning the lights off.
crazy biz.
i want to go pick up a new stock uncut interior wire harness from a yard. im not overly confident in all he messed with

besides that this new honda thing isnt so bad
(im a vw guy at heart, but ive always wanted an EG so i picked it up as a daily to have some fun with)
plans are just cosmetic
its already lowered
but i'd like some ksports. i love them on my jetta
some strut and tie bars
seats and harnesses
and a few other small stuff.
once the jetta is done we'll see how the eg goes
