civic disc rear break conversion

civic disc rear break conversion
I just bought a 97 civic coupe for $300 dollars it needs lots of work it wasnt taken care of very well but I figure that for $300 bucks I couldnt go wrong but I know I will need to do the timimg belt, clutch, body work, some interior work, brakes and definitely a tune up. I saw that you can do an acura conversion for the rear brakes to convert them from drum to disc. I am curious about this and was wondering how difficult it is and when you do it what all do you need parts wise. Like does the e brake work with it or do you have to change that do you have to change any other things when you do the conversion? I would rather do this than mess with drums its alot easier to fix discs if something goes wrong.

yea it's true. from what i know i believe you have to replace everything holding your back wheels up except for the lower control arm and strut/coilover, meaning brake disc, rotor, pads, e brake cables, trailing arms, knuckles.

It is also recommended that you upgrade the brake booster and MC to a larger DC2 setup (may require bending and flaring new fittings on hard lines) along with a 40/40 prop valve.
Good luck!! If you search you will find lots of info on this subject.

Re: civic disc rear break conversion
all you need is e brake cables, and trailing arms with discs and calipers and mounting hardware which you already have.
It's 100% bolt in it'll take you like 6-7 hours if it's your first time
I just did my 3 swapand it took me roughly an hour - hour and a half each side

Re: civic disc rear break conversion
You will need e-brake cables and rear trailing arms (with all brake components i.e. rotor, caliper and brake lines) from a DC2, 99-00 Si or even a DA teg. If your car currently has ABS make sure the donor car has ABS if you want it to function properly after the swap.
It is also recommended that you upgrade the brake booster and MC to a larger DC2 setup (may require bending and flaring new fittings on hard lines) along with a 40/40 prop valve.
