Re: Civic del sol cv join question
no way. do just the boot.
even though its torn open, you look like you live in a non-salt state. I bet that joint is still okay.
a boot kit is cheap. messy job though.

He just picked this SOL up, and probably has no earthly idea how long the boots have been torn. If the boot splits...the grease flies everywhere...and leaves bare metal to work at itself and eat away. Even if just the boot tore, and it was only driven for a little bit it's way easier to change axles.
Autozone and alot of others have them available with a lifetime warranty...LIFETIME. It's WAY easier just to replace the axle once. I just bought new axles and I think it was 160 or so for the pair with a lifetime warranty. I wouldn't gamble with ebay axles. Even if they are new or remanufactured...sometimes you'll get it, and immediately get the wobbles. If you bought on ebay your ****ed. If you bought at autozone you just take it back and get a new one. Orreillys and other parts stores offer the same or similar warranties.
