Civic Coupe GSR swap no idle
Just finished off doing a wire tuck, brake line tuck, booster delete, and auto to manual GSR swap in my coupe. I know for sure I'm having grounding issues, which will be addressed as soon as I can get the motor to idle correctly. Currently, have a ground leading going directly from the battery to the engine for the time being. Once I start the engine it will only start if I give it gas and hold the gas down 1mm. Without doing so the motor will shutdown. I first suspected the IACV but it shouldn't matter, that should give you the idle surge. Now I'm leaning towards fuel. Either bad fuel filter since the car sat for two weeks, or something else related to the fuel system. Oh I upgraded the car to OBD2, this way I can get the motor BARD here in California.
Any input would be helpful. Thanks, dem0nk1d |
Re: Civic Coupe GSR swap no idle
You need good grounds before anything can work. IACV not working will often cause stalling instead of idling. The ECU opens the IACV to let air into the engine so it can run at idle with the throttle plate closed.

YLW/BLK tested 12v with ign on
BLK/BLU tested continuity to ECU plug more testing when i get home. does anyone happen to have a good diagram of all ground locations in the EG/EJ |
Re: Civic Coupe GSR swap no idle
IACV valve and wiring are good to go. Too bad i didn;t have a obd2 ecu to test with. I have tons of obd1's. FML

Re: Civic Coupe GSR swap no idle
Any MIL codes ??? Did you move the black/blue wire in the ECU plug when you converted the IACV from a 3-wire type to a 2-wire type ??? Does the engine harness still ground cleanly at the thermostat housing ???
