Default Civic Alternator Problem. help please

Background info:

I have a 98 Honda Civic SI (Canadian so American EX Coupe) Need a new alternator. Not yet but will need one really soon. I'm looking into a high output alternator. With a 2000 W RMS (real 2000 W not the sony Xplod 2000 W RMS). So I'm upgrading to a 150 amp alternator.

Problem:

Canadian models have a 3 pin connector and American models have a 4 pin connector. Or maybe it is the other way around. I know one has a 4 pin and the other is a 3 pin. Anyone know what the other pin is (and were the extra wire goes) for and is it possible just to buy the right connector and rig something up to make it work. Or simply am I SOL.

I would prefer to hear facts and not just I think. Or the simply answer that people like to give.."anything can be done if the price is right." I also don't want to hear just change your wiring harness.

Reason I don't just want to have my alternator re-wound is that the most people in the city where i live will do is crank it up to 125 amps and it would cost about the same if not more than the 150 alternator. Having it re-wound in the city also doesn't come with a warranty which the 150 amp alternator would come with a 2 year warranty.

Honda Charging System: Overview and Diagnosis

The above is really for the US 4-wire variety. Canadian Civics lack the ELD and the Alt-C wire for the alternator (you can read above about what this line does).

So, I would get a 3-wire variety.
