Default Choppy clutch engagement on cold mornings?

I just swapped to an ex tranny on my otherwise stock 95 cx. The clutch felt good @ 114xxx miles, so I left it in. Now, on cold mornings the clutch engagement feels like wheel hop when I start in 1st. Every other gear feels fine, and the problem gradually goes away after a few minutes of driving. when everything is up to temp., it feels great. what could be wrong?

My car does the same thing, I don't know what it is. Clutch acts fine after it is warm though.

I'm goin out on a limb here.. Could be because your tires are cold.. therefore they do not grip at all causing you to actually get wheel hop if you start at like 1500 rpms in first. Once they warm up the problem goes away.. I know that is the only problem i have on cold days(which is everyday from september - march).

Nah, at least that isn't my problem. My car does it whether I have my stock wheels on, my Si wheels with Michelin rubber, or my new wheels with RE730's. The wheels aren't actually spinning. The car just shakes extremely violently in my case until the clutch is warm. Got me...?

man i have the same problem on my d15b7 with the stock tranny. i can't hardly stand to drive my car if its not warmed up. its like it shifts or grabs too hard and jerks really bad. sucks that you have the same problem.

mine is the same way - i have an ACT stage 3 clutch on a B16a it grabs hard when its cold - and the pedal feels mushy - but when it warms up the pedal is 100% stiffer than stock...fells nice..i like the stiffnes - i hate stock clutches...

Ahhh.. now i realise what you are talking about.. the chatter.. ahh yes! Mine does it too when it's cold. I have a 3 month old clutchmasters stage-1 with a resurfaced flywheel and it does it, so i wouldnt worry about it.

well, on the very cold days down here, mine just feels mushy, and doesn't react as quickly as usual. I know its not wheel spin or hop, mainly because it feels that way even when i don't put it in gear. I just figured its due to cold parts...

I started my car in 2nd this morning. Smooooth. It must be a thing with the gear, or the short ratio of 1st.

Mine is still breaking in, but does this a bit. I just slip it more, it isn't as bad when I do. Also, depending on what clutch it is, some require to be warmer to operate efficiently.
