Default HELP!!! choosing the right engine

Well i got a delema in front of me i want some guidance on choosing the right engine for me and my budget well i know all about the B16 but i have some friends that say i should think of doing a d16z6/y8 swap instead i looked all over the Internet and found a few interesting points but just want that extra input i also found a D15B JDM engine and just would like to know what is the difference form the D15 & D16 except for the obvious .1 of a liter

d15b is a JDM motor, very similiar to the d16z6 in numbers. I think it might have a few less, but not enough to matter. A b16 would be better, but a d series engine can be had for very cheap, and you can turbo them and have a fast car for the money. That is the only reason why i think your friends would recommend a d over a b series, unless they are retarded.

unfortunately you can forget about NA on a sohc. the only real way to make power is by forced infuction (supercharger or turbo). many people will tell you to go turbo for big number - but also depends on what you want to do ( daily driver, track, drag, or either). for aftermarket there is a lot for the d16z6 and the d16y8. i would personally go with a d16z6 over a jdm d15. yes you can interchange parts if the d15 breaks, but you can pick up a z6 for damn cheap (~650).

plus a d series can easily make as much or more power than a b series if tuned correctly

if youre talking about putting a d series into the hatch, look around the forced induction forum. there are a lot of posts about d series turbo AND supercharger (dyno, how-to installation, etc).

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1263795

this is a how to on doing a turbo install on a bseries, but more or less its the same process for a d series.

turbo will give you more power in the end

search around H-T and the internet (www.homemadeturbo.com) theres a lot of info out there. there are easy kits or you can piece together your own kit, so going turbo is pretty damn easy now - just the tune is the most important
