Default Chipping vs p08?

I found a guy selling a p08 ecu for $120(good price?) so I'm wondering if I should buy it so I can hook up vtec or if I can get my stock ecu chipped and for how much?

My car is a 93 Civic DX 5 speed US version with a D15B vtec,I dont know the letters and numbers for the current ecu but I know its the stock ecu and so its non vtec.

So which costs less and what are the pros and cons of chipping the current ecu vs getting the p08?

If you have the D15B Vtec then the P08 is the JDM ECU that goes with your engine!!! 120 is a descent price, flash 80 in his face and he will take it or should anyways.

But will I have problems passing emissions with that ecu?

the P08 is plug and play with your car. (provided the VTEC lines are run)
emissions shouldn't be a problem. Since FL doesn't have near what CA does as far as emissions testing.

I would like to get the P08 but say I do get my stock ecu chipped.....Would I be able to chip it to be the same as a P08 or close? And how much does chipping cost?

get chipping done at a reputable place like phearable.net.....not only will they have it chipped to run vtec but he will load a base map onto the ECU to give you better gains than stock....say you have a intake, headder and exhaust...well they will give you a better timing and fuel map to work better with those mods....chipping is definitely better in the long run because you can instal crome or some other tuning software later on for more extensive tuning
