Default CHIPPING A CANADIAN SI/U.S. EX!?!?

When I rev my engine in neutral, as soon as it hits 5000 RPM, it stops, can't go passed it. I don't know what to do to stop this, so should I put a chip into it, or what? If so chip it, which chip is good for 2000 Civic Si SOHC VTEC stock engine, and will it f**k up my car in any way?

Oh yeah, and if you know anyone who is selling a FBP Front OEM Lip off a 99-00 SiR, please post it up or e-mail me. Thanks.

Usualy / dont put in chips. I think you should go get your engine checked out first. why wouldnt it rev past 5000rpm?

Possibly because it's automatic (I know, don't laugh, I'm getting an SiR in a year), and maybe because there is a governer on the engine, which most likely doesn't allow it to rev past 5000 RPM. I don't know, but it's pissing me off. When I'm at lights and I jam the gas real hard, the torque doesn't even come into play (although I know that Honda's are jiffy on torque), but it seems as if it can't pull as much as it should. How do I take out the governer, and what can I replace it with?

no matter if it is an auto or 5spd it should still be abel to rev all the way up.....and certainly farther than 5000 rpm......the engine hasn't even hit VTEC at that point. firs thing to do would be to check your auto tranny fluid. i am not sure if this would cause it but it sounds like a problem that might be linked with the tranny. the i would just take it to get checked out...that's just not right. good luck.

Thanks boss. I don't know, the car isn't even a year old. Something is really wrong with it, but anyways, what RPM does VTEC kick in at? One of my friends told me that was a VTEC regulator that was stopping it from going past 5000 RPM while idling.

VTEC should come into play at about 5700 on the EX (Si), why do you feel the need to rev the **** outta the car in nuetral...? maybe that's the reason why something is screwed up...?

no chips for your car to answer your original question...

lose the auto, and get the SiR immediatley... while your poor car still holds some value...
