Default Check timming w/ aftermarket pulley

I bought a car with an aftermarket crankshft pulley... so how do I check timming now? Its for a y8

crank or cam pulley? if it's a crank pulley it should still have timing marks on it....if it's a cam pulley then there should also be markings for 0 degrees which would be base timing.

if there are no markings, pull spark plug number one, drop in a long dowel, turn the crank until tdc.
Verify its 1 tdc with the dizzy rotor (pointing to contact 1) or cam markings O> <O

its the crank pulley but has no markings on it.

They might have degree marks on the face of the pulley and just transfer it to the edge for timing purposes.
