You've been here for at least 4-5 days. havent you read the damn rules yet?

***NEW Forum Rules and Guidelines 9/13/04 - READ THIS BEFORE POSTING!*** « » 10:03 PM 9/13/2004 Reply Edit

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission Statement:
This forum is for the discussion of TECHNICAL issues for any 1992-up Civic (except for the 02-up Civic Si) and any 1993-1997 Del Sols. The primary goals of this forum are for people to gather useful technical information regarding said vehicles.
Message from the Moderators:
Greetings! Welcome to the largest resource of technical information on the 92 and up Honda Civic on the Internet. This particular forum is now generating over 630 posts per day, the most of any model-specific forum on Honda-Tech. There are currently four active moderators that oversee the day-to-day operations of the forum:

These moderators are (names are clickable)-
BauleyCivic
Ricey McRicerton
B18C5-EH2
keithv

The moderators have the ability to lock, move, edit, or delete ANY thread or post in the forum as they see fit. In addition to the four active moderators, there are several other global moderators that can perform the same duties as the active moderators in their absence.

Global Moderators: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?cmd=info&id=1

The moderators are here to help. All of them are dedicated members to the forum, and will do their best to help out any member in need (for whatever reason). If you ever need to contact a moderator, simply go into their profile and click “Send Instant Message to XXXX” and they should respond within 24 hours.

Forum Rules:
As a result of the heavy increase in forum traffic, the moderators have agreed on a set of rules that every user who posts in EG+ Civic / Del Sol must abide by. (These rules are IN ADDITION to the Honda-Tech TOS that every forum member must follow https://honda-tech.com/zerohelp?topic=tos) The forum rules are not up for discussion, debate, etc. The forum rules have been broken down into three categories in order of importance.

Category 1 (Includes editing/locking of thread or post in question):
NOTE: Any repeat violation of a Category 1 rule will be treated the same as a violation of a Category 2 rule.

1.A. Posting of topics relating to engine swaps in EG+ Civic / Del Sol is not allowed. We have an entire forum dedicated to engine swapping, as well as a sticky topic dealing with the subject.
Hybrid Forum: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=18
Sticky on Swaps: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=878010

(Note, specific problems or issues with engine swaps that relate only to 92 and up Civics are welcome, general questions belong in the Hybrid forum)

1.B. Posting a thread relating to the sale of a vehicle, whether it be a full-fledged for sale thread, or simply a thread regarding pricing is not allowed. We have a vehicles for sale forum where these topics belong.
Vehicles for Sale Forum: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=42

1.C. Posting general modification threads in EG+ Civic / Del Sol is not allowed. This includes threads like “What should I do to my car next?” or “I have $$$ what should I buy?” Please do a search, as there are many threads on the subject that exist in the archives.

1.D. Please do not post threads about how you were scammed by another user on Honda-Tech. The forum took a vote, and the majority did not want scammer threads in EG+, so they are no longer welcome (See thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1064226). If you were scammed by a major company and you feel that other people will certainly be affected, PM a moderator before you post up a thread to make sure that it abides by the rules. Otherwise, all scammer threads belong in classifieds.

1.E. Excessive flaming is not to be tolerated. If a moderator feels that you are being overly offensive the relating posts/threads will be deleted.

1.F. Links to online Helms (shop) manuals are not to be posted. The publishers have asked that users refrain from posting the links on a public messageboard. If absolutely necessary, keep it in instant messages. The book is well over 1000 pages, and is only $62 from http://www.helminc.com

1.G. Please do not bump old pointless threads. If an old thread is bumped, and contains no relevant technical information it will be immediately locked.

Category 2 (Includes written warning from moderator, and editing/locking of thread or post in question):
NOTE: Any repeat violation of a Category 2 rule will warrant an automatic 2% deduction from your user rating.

2.A. Please do not post misleading or unspecific thread titles. Please don’t post “Help Needed” or “Look at this problem.” Make your thread titles specific to the question you are asking.

2.B. Please do not make thread titles in all caps or with symbols that will attract attention. This steers users away from the other (most likely more important) threads on the page.

2.C. Posting classified threads in EG+ Civic / Del Sol is not allowed. We have an entire forum dedicated to buying/selling items.
Classifieds Forum: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=10

2.D. Posting picture threads in EG+ Civic / Del Sol is not allowed. We have an entire forum dedicated to automotive appearance.
Appearance/Cosmetic forum: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=28

2.E. Posting e-racing threads in EG+ Civic / Del Sol is not allowed. Any thread that asks “Which car will win?” or “What will my car run with xxxx mods?” will be locked immediately. Do not post these threads unless you have a timeslip or dyno graph and can back up your claim with concrete information.

Category 3 (Includes percentage drop not to exceed -2%, and editing/deleting of thread or post in question):

3.A. Posting off-topic threads or threads that have absolutely nothing to do with 92 and up Civics in EG+ Civic / Del Sol is not allowed. Off-topic threads include but are not limited to:
-Links to eBay items
-Any thread bashing newbies or Hondas
-"Look at this rice" topics
-"Look what I got today" topics

3.B. If a moderator locks, moves, or deletes your thread, DO NOT create an identical thread in its place. Instant message the moderator to sort out the problem.

3.C. Any direct violation of the Honda-Tech TOS will be handled accordingly.

In addition to the rules, the moderators reserve the right to lock, edit, or move any thread or post that they feel is inappropriate or does not belong in the forum. Moderators actions are up for appeal, and if you disagree with a moderator’s decision or action please PM them or another moderator to work out the issue (as per the TOS).

General Guidelines:
Although there are forum rules in place, we do feel that the forum should be able to govern itself. Along with the forum rules, we ask that our members keep a few things in mind when posting:

- SEARCH FIRST!!!! There is no topic that hasn’t been covered before in this forum. Make sure you search both archived and recent topics in the EG+ forum before you decide to post a new thread. If you don’t know how to use the search feature read this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=979961

- Keep your threads TECH related (or at least try to contain some tech in them). This is Honda-TECH.com If you have non-technical questions, they might be more appropriately suited for Appearance/Cosmetic or GDD. We feel that you all know what a “tech” thread is and don’t need it spelled out for you.

- If you post technical info, but are not 100% sure about the info please say so. Too many people post "factual" info when it is in fact, NOT so. This is as bad or worse than any other violation of the rules. By simply stating "I'm not 100%, but I think..." you can save someone a lot of trouble if they are working on their car based on your info.

- Be somewhat polite. Try to respect all of your fellow members, and instead of flaming them try and answer their questions or at least point them in the right direction. If a user is causing trouble or not being polite, feel free to flame away (these topics will most likely be locked by the moderators).

- Keep the thread ON TOPIC. If a member asks where the VTECH solenoid is on his or her car, just answer. No need for the VTECH phone pictures, no need for 20 posts calling him a noob and telling him how VTEC is spelled. Honestly, it’s not that important. Answer their question and then get on with your day.

What you can do as a member:
If every member can read the rules and abide by them, this forum can continue to run smoothly and head in the right direction. However, with the registration of hundreds of new members every day, we are bound to have people who are too lazy or ignorant to read the forum rules. If you see a thread or post that you think is violating the forum rules or you think it doesn’t belong in EG+ Civic / Del Sol, you can report the post to a moderator. Under the thread starter or posters name, there is an icon that looks like this:
