Check light went on
About a 2 days after a put fuel injector cleaner in my light poped on. I just bought a 2000 si and wanted to clean stuff out. I know my previous car (not a honda) would set off the chk engine light if i put it in but then it would eventualy go away. Is this something common in si's or might i have a nother actual problem.
This is what i used. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=369511_0_0_ is this a bad thing to do. Is there something better? This is my first honda/vtec/si. Ect.
Thanks for any advice. Also im running 91octane. Is that bad or good.

Re: Check light went off
Sounds like it fouled the O2 sensor.. Lucas is sensor safe according to that link. but they sometimes take a **** afterwards.
Next time use the chevron techron stuff, or other top quality stuff.
Edit: need to edit your title to "Check Light went ON"

Re: Check light went off
91 octane.....since you have the si and hopefully the stock engine (b16a2) than YES always use 91 octane or higher up to 93 (i wanna say to be safe). honda recommends 91 octane or higher for that model so yes

Re: Check light went off
just dont run fuel injector cleaner,
RUN GOOD GAS
Esoteric- techron is already an additive in chevron fuels, so no need to ever add injector cleaner, just like shell V-power
That is why the gas is more expensive at these stations, you are paying for a cleaner healthier engine that actually burns better for more compression applications like our cars need.

Re: Check light went off
use a scanner to retreive the code inside the ecu.
doesnt matter if the CEL is illuminated as the last known fault will be stored.

You also noticed your other vehicles CEL turn off cause the OBD2 system continuously monitors for the fault it detected after you would add the injector cleaner to the vehicle. Chances are it was only a breif problem cause after 40 key cycles not detecting the fault the ecu will turn the fault(CEL) off.
What you are gonna hope for is your new honda to do the same which chances are it probably will. I myself do not reset ecu's on some OBD2 situations, so I can monitor when the light finally extinguishs. This ends up telling me more about the fault itself, and whether my fix applied was right.
The cars on techron adds have faces and are all happy for a reason lol.
I think youll be fine. Just drive brotha.
Ohh yeah and our cali 100 oct. at the pump sux.
ask your local tuner and he will tell you the same or he sux.
Do NOT just randomly run this stuff in your car as it will send your fuel trims in a wack.
You would need a tune to run that crap, and this stuff should never hit your gas tank. Bigger or more is not always better in honda land. That car is factory tuned for our fuels, which happens to call for premium 91 oct. at a minimum. hope any of this helps.
