Check Engine from nowhere ...
Car is 1996 Del Sol S with D16Y7 stock. I was having a cig last night and started a car ... while idling all of a sudden car bogged and check engine light came on. RPM went up to about 1K and stayed there ... Today I wanted to check at local Advanced auto parts what is the code it's throwing but supposedly they don't check codes anymore in all sorts of typical stores [autozone, advanced, kragen]. Since I had to go to work I left. I can feel hesitation and bogging when accelerating from the stop untill about 2K -2.3K then it goes normally ... On 1st gear it actually jumps fast after it passes "bogging" phase. and it goes quite normal thru all the gears. I jumped my service conector but only thing I got was 3 fast blinks. It's an OBD2 car so I know best way would be to scan it for codes with the tool but what I found out so far that it could be MAP sensor ... checked for connection and it's there ... any suggestions?

Code 3 is your MAP sensor. Test your plugs if they are bad then replace them. If not then it may be the MAP itself and you'll need to replace it.

3 fast blinks is a code 3 for map sensor
is your map sensor a firewall mount or a throttle body mounted sensor?
i have both laying around here, ill sell them cheap if you can use them.

Well ... on my way back home I drop by Auto Zone and voila ... got my code P0108 .. MAP sensor circuit high voltage. I guess then best option will be just new MAP sensor and call it a day ... cant see a reason why it would "Just fail' with no warning ... I have checked it today and all the vacum lines also ... Probe tested connector ... 4.78V or something like that. Just makes me wonder that it happened after a full tuneup recently ... I got like 300 miles on new water pump and timing belt but thru that 300miles everything was purrfect ... I even got myself valve adjustment done last sunday ... I guess it's just a misshap ... any thoughts?
