Check Engine lights suck
I'm on my way home last night & my check engine light pops up. So, I stop by autozone & have them check it really fast. Happens to be a bad O2 sensor or my Cat isn't working right.
Now this is just a daily driver, and I hate spending huge amount of money on it, but at the same time, I don't want to replace it & mess my car up either. I'm going to replace the sensor, but figure while I'm down there, why not replace the Cat. So I jump on Ebay & I see a ton of Catbacks for ~$25. *cautious
Anyone ever buy a highflow Cat off ebay before? or should I just suck it up & fork out the extra money.

most of them are resonators and not actual cats. there are some magnaflow cats floating around ebay for about $50 shipped, but if its not a name brand cat, its most likely just a resonator.

Or a test pipe. One guy bought one for 15-20 and it turned out to be a 2.5" piece of pipiong with flanges welded onto it.

Pretty much.
I'd reccomend getting in touch with KTeller and seeing what kind of high-flow he can get you.

Would I pass emission with it? I don't think a Cat actually does anything for the car though. Just an emissions thing right?
Basically, it's just a pipe to replace the Cat, & to get me pass emission. =P

Re: (beandip)
Cat helps with emissions. Depending on the condition of your motor you may be able to pass without one. There was a guy awhile back that was running a turbo'd car w/ test pipe. He failed the first time, but made it the 2nd.

just get a real high flow cat. test pipes really don't provide much of a gain over a high flow cat on a turbo car, and doesn't do **** by make your car illegal and smell like fumes if you're na.

Personally I'd throw in an O2 simulator and a generic POS high flow cat.
The O2 simulator will ensure that you're good for emissions testing and the high flow cat will help a visual check if they ever get that far.

So, I'm looking around for cheap Cats & I can't find anything decent & not complete crap for less then $300+.
I might as well just upgrade the damn exhaust system for another $200 or so.
Oh & To top it off. I was under the car last night replacing the O2 Sensor & changing the oil. Turns out that whoever change the oil the last time either stripped my Oil Pan, or the bolt.
I backed the plug out about 2 threads & I saw metal schillings coming out.
Anyone know where I can get a cheap oil pan now. Damn!!
