Default check engine light with vafc?

One day one of my friends wanted to put a relay into my mass air flow sensor, but when we turned on my car the light came on so i told him to put it back the way it was, but now the the light is still on and i'm concerned something else is wrong, so i went to advance auto parts to get it checked, but because of the vafc, it won't read..how can i check it, because i'm running nitrous and i want to make sure it's not detonating my internals?

Not to sound likea jackass or anything but the VAFC keeps its memory without power, hence everytime you take your key out it returns back to how you left it. Resetting the ECU is just a matter of unplugging your battery for 20 seconds or so. The CEL won't usually go away by itself right away, even if the problem is fixed so thats why you need to reset it.

And the VAFC doesn't hinder the ECU from being read at all. Are you sure it's installed correctly? I've seen so many times that the wrong wires are tapped when its installed, etc.
