Default Check Engine Light after Header install.......

Alright, so here's the deal. I bought all my exhaust components off of ebay. So I got standard chikara headers, a no name high flow cat, and a thundermuff airmass cat back exhaust. I installed everything, no problems, but my check engine light is on and will not go off. What should I do? I put both sensors in the proper holes. Is there any simple way I can turn the light off myself? Did I overlook something that's keeping it on? Am I going to have to take it to a honda service place to get it fixed? I know I couldn't possibly be the only person to have encountered this problem. Thanks

What kind year car do you have? Do you know how to check your engine codes? If not, then under the passenger foot well behind the carpet (92-95) or behind a platic box(96+) There is a green rubber plug looking thing. Inside that you will find 2 plugs one that has 2 wires ran to a male plug. Cross these 2 with a small piece of wire or a paper clip. Then turn the key to the "ON" postion and count the blinks the light will blink in your dash. Each long blink counts for 10 and shorter blinks are 1 for example....
4 long blinks and 3 shorter flashes will be code 43.

Sorry if this is confusing it sounds good to me.

sometimes that green rubber thing is shoved high up in there and you have to look for it for a mintue or 2.

That sounds scary. I know I have a d16y8, if that helps at all? I basically just want to shut the light off. If it is necessary to get the engine code to do this, then I will. Thanks.

I had the same problem after a header install, its probably because of that FREE FLOW (no name) cat, which is probably more like a resonator. So the Second O2 probably reads that there is no cat.

to reset ur ecu take out the fuse(backup radio) from the fuse box located right above ur battery. this will make the check light go away, but if the problem is still there the light will come back on.

i had this problem after 2 months of having my dc header on my 98 ex...the re-routed o2 sensor wire was close to some heat or something so it was re-routed and the problem was fixed. hope this helps

good luck

Well if you dont care about your car then you can pull the light out. But I dont recommend this at all! just try to check your codes man this will help out alot. i bet it is a 02 sensor code. Proably secondary as stated above. Hell it is fun to learn new things, so go and try to get the codes.

i know how to have the light off for about 100 miles.... disconnect the ground wire on the battery for about 10 sec, it will turn off but then before you know it it will be back on.
