Default check engine light after AEM cold intake - sensor problem

I get a CEL when I start driving after I've installed an AEM Cold Intake into my Del Sol 96 B16A6, there was no place for the sensor previously connected into the stock filter pipe, so I've left it hanging with the sensor connected to it. I get a CEL only after I drive from a stop and it stays on. Do I need the sensor anyways? How to get it to go off? Thanks.

I assume youre talking about the (IAT).
Theyre should be a Hole in the intake for it near the top closer to the intake manifold.

Got any pictures?

There is only one hole on the aem intake pipe, which is for the hose going to the cover.

there should be another for the sensor that plugs into the intake - may have to drill the intake and make a hole for it.

i'll try to make a hole in the gasket, if there's a gap between the pipes, with some silicon sealant
thanks

I just drilled a hole in the silicon coupler between the pipe and the throttle body, then i just stuck the sensor into there

ok i've just done that, i've drilled a hole in the coupler between the two pipes, but i was surprised to see the CEL go on again, what could be the problem? note that its only when i start driving

not sure because basically there's no CEL when i start the engine, only when i start driving. i thought it was related to the IAT sensor, but now after installing it back i am confused

The computer stores the code; the engine light doesn't have to be on when you retreive the code. And while it's probably something to do with the IAT, knowing exactly what the computer thinks is wrong will help you diagnose.

That looks like 23 to me. I bet you bumped the connector installing your intake

try to reset your ecu by taking off the battery for 30 seconds. See what happens then.

i installed a short ram intake...and had a cel also....after u instaled the intake..did u let ur car idle for 10 minutes? your ecu has to recalculate air/fuel after the intake is installed...if u drive it immediately after installing...ur gonaa throw the computers calculations off and possibly trigger cel. also...since i live in canada..our winters are cold...and even with my short ram...when winter temperatures started setting in...i had a cel come on for 2 days because of the cold, denser air. so that could be a possiblity too if ur in a colder state.

damn right, they left the knock sensor unplugged, and not only unplugged, but its also broken! I am going back soon to sort it out that little sensor costs about 150$
