Check Engine Light on after 18,000 miles?????
Hi!
So my 2000 Honda Civic LX only has about 18,000 miles on it. I live in the city of Chicago so I only drive it about once a week and probably less then like 30 miles a trip. Anyway, about a month ago I had to get my exhust system replaced because it was very loud (I am so not into car terms so please excuse my "non technical" terms) Anyway, they replaced my muffler and some other pipes. I also got an oil change at the same time.
I noticed a few weeks later that when I would start my car, it would shake a little, but after driving it for a while it would be fine. I thought maybe this was because I hadn't run my car all week and it had been hot out and I had the air conditioner on. Anyway, this weekend, I started my engine after a week of it just sitting there and it started to shake again but this time the "Check Engine" light came on. After driving a few miles, the shaking stopped but the light is still on. I haven't started my car since Sunday but I imagine the light will still be on. I am going to go take it into the shop this weekend to see what's wrong. I guess I just don't understand why the light is coming on since I only have 18,000 miles on the car. Any ideas?
-Thanks,
Amy

I know you said you don't know about cars really, but you can try checking for the code then search for what the code means.

The part can be boughten on like autozone or checkers website for like 20-45 bucks depending on if you get an OEM one or not.
You need a 02 sensor wrench to take it off which isn't all that difficult really. The wrench is like, 10-15 bucks.
I'd say if you did it yourself, you could do teh whole job for under 50 bucks.
It's just a matter of busting the bolt loose, unplugging the sensor, plugging in the new sensor and tightening the new bolt.
