Default Check Engine Light

Hello all this is actually my first post. Have a 1999 LX two issues going on with it. The car has been overheating for awhile. When I have the heater on it is enough to keep me at normal operating temperatures. Regardless I have replaced the water pump in the last month, as well as thermostat, all OEM. But the problem persists, I have run prestone super clean through and got a lot of corrosion out of the system. It got better after the first go round but it was not solved. I am now running a second clean through it in hopes that if it is indeed my radiator I will at least have a clean system when I replace it. So on to the engine light. I replace the distributor O ring 2 days ago, Everything seemed to go fine, put a mark on the dizzy and was able to line it back up. No problems immediately following the procedure but today the check engine light was on, and I was idling all of the place, 2k, then 1.5k, then 1k and back up. Then when applying the gas after a gear shift the car jumped into gear. So my question to everyone here is, This is the distributor right? Could the coolant system cause this? If it is something to do with how I attached the distributor then what must I do to fix it. BTW on Saturday I will have time to go get the code reader. Thank yall

have you bleed the coolant system ? when my car(teg GS-R) overheated and had idle issues it was due to a coolant leak. have a look mine was around the t-stat. and the heater byass hose as for the cel you'll know better when you can get the code.

You more than likely have a blown head gasket at this point if its been running hot that long. Check the engine light code and post it
