Check Engine Light on with “O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)” code read
Hi there,
I have Honda Civic 97 CX automatic with 80K on it. The check engine light started going orange all the time when my car is running. I got OBD2 car reader and got the following error message: “O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)”.
What does it mean?
Is it safe to drive my car while this CEL is on?
How big deal is to replace this sensor (should it be replaced) and how much it costs?
Thanks,
Vox

this just means the o2 sensor near the headers is bad. just replace it and you'll be fine.

Hey,
Thanks for the reply.
Do you know how much it costs and where I can get it from?
Is it a big deal to replace it myself?
Sorry man, I am not good at this staff
Thanks again!

you can get any o2 sensor from the dealer (expensive though) or the parts store. replacing one is easy as long as you get the one for you car and not the universal one. the universal one requires you to have to cut and wire back together.
also, wait until the car cools, get yourself the socket to remove the o2 sensor and some wd40. sometimes with rust the freeze, the wd40 will come in handy.
