Check for dirt in your coolant reservoir !!!!
Hello there.
Just want to let everybody know about the subject because I don't want this to happen to anybody else.
When I was driving to work I have noticed that my car 93 civic LX is overheating.
THe upper radiator hose had a big crack in it and all the coolant leaked out
What happened? The pressure release tube had a lot of dirt in it so it could not release pressure in to the resorvoir where you put coolant in to..
I have cleaned out the little hose, put a new upper readiator-engine hose and put in some coolant Then after driving for couple days I decided to open my radiator again while the car was still hot It sprayed me wich coolant
That means that the pressure release tube was backed up again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The dirt from the bottom of the little reservour got sucked in to the tube and almost cost me another repair. Now I had to clean the reservoir too...
Make sure it's clean or it will blow your hoses...

Do yourself a favor and keep a keen eye on your temp gauge
and you coolant res for the next 2 - 3 weeks depending on how much you drive
I thought the same thing you did
but it was my headgasket.

No, the release of coolant does not mean the return line was blocked. Your radiator cap should be rated for 1.1 bar, or 16psi. That means your cooling system can build the necessary pressure to raise the boiling point of the coolant. The release was from this increased pressure because the car was still hot. You generally see coolant exchange with the reservoir during startup and cool down, not when the system is under pressure.

So why did the upper radiator hose blew up?
too much pressure?</TD></TR></TABLE>
from old age. when was the last time you changed it? i suggest you change the coolant hoses, therostat, radiator cap, and flush the complete system

Re: (acider)
lol it doesnt matter what car it is if its warm and you pull the radiator cap off its going to spray. Has nothing to do with being "stoped up". Has to do with the fluid getting hot and trying to vaporize.

I would assume corrosion and deteriorated rubber particles if the coolant system has not received proper maintenance.
