sell it...
get a 92-95 hatch...
use the money left over for a swap w/ forged internals and turbo it.... with slicks you'll be in the 12's

ls turbo on 8-10 lbs with slicks should be easy mid 12s. probably run you 3-4grand And why would you sell it for a 92-95? they weight approx. the same.

LS swapped 98 CX: low 15's (no boltons), high 14's (boltons)
slicks: low 14's with a 2.0 sec 60 foot
turbo: 10 psi with all of the above, probably high 12's
Cost LS swap, shipped: $1800. Exhaust: $300
Cost Slicks and rims: $350
Cost of turbo setup capable of running 10 psi safely: $2600
There you go.

1800 shipped for an LS? ouch. Did you get it from IAS? Exaust should only be like 250$ for a custom. And you could build a turbo setup a lot cheaper than 2600 with junk yard stuff. Depends on what you wanna do. I know my turbo setup was all brand new minus the injectors and resistor box.

Not guaranteed, but easily attainable if the engine is running right and you get a good launch.
I've ran 13.3@101mph on a shitty 2.0 60 footer.
I've also trapped 103mph.
A nice 1.8 60 footer is an easy high 12 considering I've since tuned my B18C5 and gotten +20whp and +20ft-lbs. of torque since those runs last October.
...but is a B18C5 "cheap" to you?
It's all relative...

Re: (JDM1.8LSi)
well my opinion is get a h22. (overall cheaper then the c5) even with lsd..
get the basic bolt ons and get it into an eg hatch... i can garentee 13s.... but im sure u can make it into the 12s with tuning bolt ons and some headwork
cams new valve train and upgrade your whole fuel system. you will be very happy and u will have saved money over the c5
plus i dont believe u get as much bang for the buck upgrading the c5 (i know im gonna hear it from tom) but the c5 has great internals and still produces less the same as the h22 stock. so if your going all motor u have alot of room for improvment and u have displacment on your side.

It was just an estimate, obviously if he shops around online or has friends in the industry, he may be able to find something cheaper. I agree with the numbers listed above as average.

sorry.. i forgot to mention that this will be a daily driver
i was actually leaning towards a ls/turbo setup before posting here and i think this tipped the pole..
that 10 psi.. will it be safe to run it on stock internals?.. will it be reliable as a daily driver?
and also what octane will i have to run (94?)
thanks

Re: (mishima_beef)
strip ur car down to the bone throw a y8 with turbo with slicks at 10 psi u are there...12's...u cant beat the price of a sohc turbo....for the price of a gsr engine u can have a half built sohc running 10psi and 13's all day....im an example of a 13.6 with stock tires with full interior with a sohc vtec turbo at 8 psi....and i dynoed tuned at 10 psi and not fully using the power...with slicks i can hit 12.9 guarenteed...the setup wont impress anyone but the times will...heres my proof with the slip and notice the wheels and tires...175-60-13 i think made by federal
