cheap mans itr question
with the b16 head on the gsr block is there any mods to the head that need to be done? ive heard that there needs to be some machining to fit the head onto the block.
second is there any timeing issues with this setup?
thanx

Re: cheap mans itr question (cRxgirl)
You will need GSR headstuds and a GSR timingbelt I believe. It should just bolt up after that. You will also want to pick up some overbore pistons pretty quick cuz the USDM p72's that will come with the block will lower ur compression (9.8 CR). I'd recommend either the USDM B16a (11.1 CR), JDM B16a (11.3 CR), or JDM B18b (11.8 CR). Good luck.
*Edit: Anyone out there know how much an effect using the B16 cams would have?

I'd reccommend since the motor is already out, get new water/oil pump, and yes ues a GSR timing belt.
For pistons, might as well go all out(OEM) and go JDM CTR.
Hope that helps.

Re: cheap mans itr question (lazy bum shaughn)
sure does. jdm b16's have that option. go to hmotorsonline.com for further details. just an extra 300 for the optional lsd tranny

He is correct. This is the same set up i've been running for the past two years. With CTR cams, you'll get a awesome mid-range power. Here's a dyno chart
By the way, I'll be in West Palm this weekend for the NHRA sport compact racing, showin too . Stop by and say hi.

Re: cheap mans itr question (cRxgirl)
head will just bolt on. no issues with timing. get new headstuds, new timing belt ITR/GSR either one will work. its also good time to do the pistons as well keep it between 10.5-11.5:1 and you should have no problems on 91 octane.
GSR cams have slightly more duration then b16a.
bert-o nice and torquey for the HP levels.

All parts above is correct. I would also recomment doing pistons as well. I used PR3 pistons (11.1:1 CR). With GSR cams I put down 182hp and 134torque with a mildly ported B16a head, PR3 pistons, balanced crank, VAFC, Chipped P28 and normal bolt ons.
