Changing the VTEC point
I read in a magazine about a guy who did custom programming for S2000s' that would lower the VTEC point to around 4,500 or so, to help with midrange power. Anyone know about anything like that for the Civic. I like the top end on the car, but damn, it has NO midrange power or low-end torque. Thanks in advance

Re: Changing the VTEC point (NightHawk)
You can also do it with an FPR, vtec controller, and a dyno, but don't expect monster midrange from it.

vtec at a low point can at times hurt more then result in any gains. you can get your ECU chipped with a stock program with custom vtec/rev limit for a good price (OBDI/OBD0) (check my sig )

Re: Changing the VTEC point (Kamin)
From what I understand, Vtec engages when a certain oil pressure is reached, and by lowering the vtec engagement point would mean that you are fooling the vtec to engage when there is insufficient oil pressure going to the head and in doing so you could potentially burn your cams, or even worse fry your head.
Depending on what rpm you vtec engages eg 92 Civic Si engages at 4800rpm and if you lower it to about 4500rpm, I think you would be alright but if you are thinking of lowering to anything less than that, i would say that would be a bad idea, very bad.
