Changing transmission oil seal, need help **pics **
95 civic dx- standard transmission
This shift linkage-to-transmission oil seal is leaking lots of oil:
My plan is to buy another seal from the honda dealership, replace it, refill my lost fluid, and see if it stops leaking. (anyone else have any better ideas?)
Two questions:
1- how do I detach the shift linkage so I can get the seal out?
2- I want to fill the tranny through the VSS, which of these 10mm bolts do I need to remove?
sorry for the dirty car etc, and thats pb-blast all over the vss bolts.

for the shift linkage...take off that clip that u see in the pict. feel around it u should be able to pop if odd my hand...after that u'll see a small peace of metal that goes through the shift linkage..use a punch(dont know the size) punch it out and it will seperate..
filling through the VSS..take the 10mm bolt that comes up the highes..from the picture its the top one..ane it comes right out...gl
edit: oh and i dont think that rubber shift linkage thing ure pulling off is leaking oil..cuase that not what its there to do..its there, to cover the small pin and clip that holds the linkage and tranny rod together..the plastic after u pull off(where the rod goes into the tranny) should be whats keep oil from coming out..check that instead..

Ok, so thats the infamous 'bitch pin'
In the first pic i'm holding back the boot so that you can get a clean view of the light grey colored lip in the center of the pic. that is where its leaking from, I'm almost positive its called the "shift linkage oil seal."

5/8" is the size punch u need i think, and that pin is not very hard at all if u use a punch. oh, and i wouldnt buy a replacement pin even though your supposed to... atleast i never replaced mine.
