Default changing my drivers side axle...do I need to drain the tranny fluid?

do I need to drain my tranny fluid if I'm changing my drivers side axle. I know you have to drain it to do the passenger side. Its a b18c in a 1994 si.
thanks

I don't think that you do. When I swapped axles in my stock 92 si, I never drained any fluid, just pulled the old one out and popped the new one in, same thing in my friends 93 CX with a b18, just popped em right out.

If memory serves, it leaked a few drops, but not enough to make it worth draining the whole thing.

I believe you do. There was a great recent turorial on how to change an axle. Just do a search under tutorial and it will be right there.

No, as long as you leave the intermediate shaft in the tranny. If you pull the axle with the intermediate shaft then you will need to drain the tranny fluid. Might as well anyways, cheap preventitve maintanance.

man u guys have to learn, think before you do so, damn monkey's,
okay heres what u want to do
take a jack, jack the driver side up from the front, let the oil sit at a degree so it wont come out when taking out the axle, then u do your job and the oil should be fine with out coming out. believe me i done it plenty times i break axles left and right at the track
