Default Changing ECUs....

I have a 93 CX with a D15B7 and a P09 ecu. Is there a different ecu I could get real cheap to increase performance or is my only option to chip it? What ecu origanally came with a D15B7? A P06??

you won't get any hp by changing the ECU, unless you need too. You can save up for almighty p28 for future swaps, but it won't give you no power with a d15b7 it will just throw a bunch of codes and let you rev to 7200 and you will drop out of power way before that mark. BTW it's a nice idea to blow your motor that way before you do a swap just run the **** it out of it with a p28, I'm doing it next time I'm doing a swap.

He said D15B7 (the DX/LX engine) not the D15B8 CX engine. He will gain performance with a P06 ECU, unless he put the CX intake manifold on the B7.

You should have a CEL illuminated with an EGR fault code if you are running a true D15B7 with that P09 ECU.

I thought I've been reading in here that D15B7's had a P06. My CEL is on, but the code I get is a 3 for map sensor. The guy I bought the car from lost oil pressure and blew the D15B8 up one day so he put a D15B7 in it. SO how much difference will changing to a P06 make?

The P06 will make a noticeable difference, especially when you fix the map sensor issue.

I seriously recommend never using that "Mugen" chip to run an engine that you care about and want to run properly.

I appreciate the info. How do I check the voltage on my map sensor? What's wrong with the mugen chip?

The first thing thats wrong is that MUGEN has never and will never design anything for the P06 ECU or a USDM 1.5 liter engine. At best it is a hack of a bootleg copy of a MUGEN P30 program. Basically, if it works at all, your fuel and timing maps will not be anything close to what would run your engine optimally. It will also disable most of the sensors the ECU uses to determine the status of the engine, as well as raise the revlimit so high you will be able to float the valves at will.

My opinion: Get a P06 ECU and fix the MAP sensor error. Your engine will run like it was designed to, and it will be less troublesome in the future.
