how hard is it?

just bought my car and the antenna is stuck at the highest position

aftermarket alternatives?

just get one from honda

its really easy and shouldnt take to long at all

the wire goes all the way down the pillar and into the cabin right?

yeah, it's kind of a bitch to fish it through the hole at the bottom, but you just gotta be patient and keep feeding it through. I did mine last weekend, took me bout an hour.

Just get a new one from honda or from your local radio shop.
It's a cakewalk as long as you have a little patience. start in thae car and unplug the antenna from the back of the radio and fish it backwards to wards the driver's side kick panel. Remove the 2 screws on the antenna itself on your roof...to make this a tad easier...DO NOT PULL THE ANTENNA OUT FROM THE ROOF...YET! before pulling the antenna out from the roof...tie a long piece of speaker wire(18-14 gauge or similar size wire...approximately 5 or 6 feet)to the plug end of the antenna wire(the one that goes into the radio). if you are going to trash the old antenna that's in there now you can simply cut off the antenna's radio plug end. I've found when doing these antenna's...if you cut off the plug...start taking some electrical tape and wrapping it tightly(slightly stretching the tape as you wrap it around the wire)for a few turns...leave the roll of tape hanging off the end you cut...lay one end of the piece of speaker wire along the antenna wire and continue to wrap the electrical tape around both the antenna wire and speaker wire making sure to cover the end of the speaker wire with tape as to make sure it does not get caught midway as you pull it out. make sure that's it's as tight as you can get it without ripping the tape as you wrap! I've also found that if you spray a little Dry Silicone spray(or WD-40 or the like) on the area you taped...it will also help to slip the wire out a little bit easier. after it's taped up tight...you should be able to pull the antenna from the roof end and continue to pull until you can see the speaker wire on both the roof and the kick panel ends. either untape it or just cut it from the antenna wire. now that you have about a foot of speaker wire hanging out of your roof...repeat the tight taping of the new antenna's radio plug to the roof end of the speaker wire. again a little lube helps here too lol! so tape tightly and lube and then you should be able to pull on the end of the speaker wire that's in your kick panel and pull the antenna wire down and into the kick panel and re-route the antenna's plug to the back of the radio again. Sometimes a little shake and wiggle of the wires as you pull through helps too. Enjoy your tunes. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

It looks like I've said a lot and that it's a really involved process but it's really quite easy. I just usually get into as much detail i can in my 'splanations as to make it easier for the OP and so they don't have to keep coming back and asking more questions.

Hope this is a deep enough explanation for you...if nothing gets bound up..this should take you maybe 5 minutes...10 tops.

the wire runs from the roof...down the a-pillar into the driver's side kick panel..up across the underside of the steering column...to the back of the radio. I've found it's a little easier to start at the radio and work your way towards the kickpanel. if you drop the driver's side dash it will also make things a little easier to route the wiring.

i run the same step up and i get better reception then factory and it looks cleaner IMO
