I changed my timing belt and adjusted the valves with my brother and one of my friends on my D16Z6 and after we got it all finished we started it up, and it started up fine no sounds or anything, later when we were test driving it around it started squeeling constantly, so we pulled over and tried to figure out which belt was squeeling, I thought it sounded more like the alternator than anything but it was hard to tell. The belts were still squeeling so we got back in to drive off and the sound stopped. So, I thought it was just an adjustment thing. Well now my car squeels everytime I turn it on, just a quick squeel then it stops, but it happens everytime none-the-less. What the hell is the problem?

could be to lose..

one of your accessory belts is loose. Check the tension on them and tighten the one that is the loosest...

Make sure that the belts and pulleys are clean and properly tensioned.

THey feel pretty damn tight, I have power steering and the alternator, that's about it for belts, besides timing, but the timing belt shouldn't squeel should it?

your should hope the timing belt is not lose..., do you have a/c?

Timing belt is normal tension, but if were loose I'd know. I don't have a/c

timing belts wont squeal cause they are cogged(teeth).

How old are the belts? May just need to put a new belt on it?

The belt is too lose. Torque it correctly to resolve. GL

My car has been wobbling at around 60mph and on, do you think the belts would as well add to this? I'm sure they would, I would just like to know, so I can fix everything in one day


And my timing belt is still able to move back and forth on the teeth, uggh

im not sure but doesn't the timing belts on honda's have self adjusters?

Well yea, I know, I'm going to have to take everything apart again and tighten it up. At least the timing belt needs to be tightened, and the Alternator and Power Steering belts need to be loosened

The timing belt shouldn't be loose if you installed it correctly (using the tensioner properly), and if it was, I doubt it would squeal. The drive belts might, so check for the tension and for oil, etc.

Also, a belt that is too loose is not good, but a belt that is too tight is even worse.

Yea I know, I figured either one is too tight or one is too loose, or both. The timing belt is too loose looking at it, my idiot friends don't know what they're doing, I should have done the tensioner, I was gone...

oh god... I'm sorry, man, but I'd never trust any of my friends with my car if I wasn't around. You might even want to rip off the lower timing cover to see what's up. I would, but then again, I'm a paranoid mess with my car.

one of ur accessory belts sonds too tight or loose...as everybody's been saying

IN any event...I doubt a squealing sound can be produced by a timing belt..I"ve never heard of it, seen it, and it does not make any sense...
