Changed Oils, Spark Plugs - My Opinions...
So, I was bored today so I dropped by Autobacs to get some fluids and plugs changed. Since I did my swap I sort of neglected some of these... I wanted to do it so that I would have some type of record of things being done.
With Oil, I chose AMSOil 5w-30. I know it's overkill for a B18C, but it was more to see if there was any difference. Transmission Fluid, I chose 10w-30 RedLine Synthetic. And for Brake/Clutch Fluid, I chose this German ATL Blue Stuff (because MOTUL was out).
Spark Plugs, on the other hand, I chose NGK Iridium IX to see if there was a difference between the old NGK Copper Plugs that I had been using.
So after getting everything done, I let her rip hard down the road to see if there was a difference. The Brake/Clutch Fluid was noticeable (I was using Honda DOT3) and now I had a stiffer clutch and more responsive brakes. The Motor Oil I have yet to see have an effect. Transmission Oil (was using Pennzoil Yellow 10w-30) makes my shifter feel tight to the effect of my old Cable Gear Shifter in my VW Corrado. I really like the shifter tightness now, which is very different from the soft flap that I was currently using. The Iridium Plugs I would have to say is the biggest difference, the engine revs harder (not too much, I'm not talking Night and Day, but simply the difference between dawn and noon if you need and analogy). Responsiveness (motor-side) is effective when I pass 3,500RPM up until about 7,300 RPM (keep in mind i'm using a negotiable stock Si cluster for tach readings, which can be a tad off).
Would I do it again? Probably. I mean its a tad expensive but hey, it isn't something you do every day. Plus, I work hard for my living and school, and I find this something I put a lot of time into do I don't mind pouring out a little extra $$ sometimes.

to anyone who reads this thread. STAY away from pennzoil, it has certain waxes in it that clog up screens and holes in your block, which prevents oil from actually passing though. Which in turn also means bye bye motor. If you want some facts about it try searching around the web

How old were your old plugs?
Its quite possible, that the difference you felt between the old plugs and the iridium plugs would've been the same with just about any "new" pug.
The real test would be to run brand new iridiums and brand new NGK(for example) back to back and see if there was a difference.
Chances are, there wouldnt be.

yeah my old plugs were worn to crap. didn't even think the gap was right. Autoline copper, for the loss.
I was wondering if i would feel any different with new plug wires. i'm gonna get some after i get a new distributor.
