Ok, here's the deal.....JDM B16A in a 93 hatch---the ONLY time my CEL comes on is when I max out 1st and 2nd gear and when i get to 3rd it comes on and then I lose VTEC engagement. But when I turn the car completely off and then I turn it on again or even if I just turn it to the "on" position, the light isn't there....I then have to do the same hard driving to get it on again. Regular driving I don't have any issues with the CEL. Correct me if I am wrong, but I had a couple of guys tell me not to check the code while the car is running because it will mess up my computer. I have also tried to get a code with the car in the "on" position but with no CEL and nothing came up...I just wanted to see if anything were to come up.....any suggestions on what the problem might be and any advice would be helpful...thanks guys

chances are it is a fueling code, probably a 43 or 45. if it is a code that only comes on like that you will have to get the code by jumping the check connector thile it is running. IIRC, i never had a problem doing it that way.
