Did that actually work?
OP: Have you recently had any electrical problems? I have the exact same problem. I think my ECU may not be getting a constant power source, which is causing it to clear itself after the ignition is turned off.

Yeah, worked for me, I had OBD1 swap issues, finally got it going but threw a code 30, just plugged it in while the car was on (I think, mehbe I'm forgetting something, I thought I turned it on then checked it.)

Cool. I'm just paranoid about frying my ECU.
I think I'm going to check the conuity (sp) on pin D1 to make sure the ECU is getting constant power from the fuse box. I have a feeling that may be why my ECU isn't storing codes. I'll check it while I'm playing with the car tomorrow.

Lol, it's all good.
I'm just trying to figure what's wrong with my car for once. I get such random CELs. I'll get a CEL driving one time, it'll go away the next time I start the car. Next day the CEL will come back and I can't go over 3500. Turn the car off, start it back up and it'll run like a champ with daily beating for months.
