CEL p0135 o2 sensor

I just want to pass smog!

I got the dreaded p0135 CEL code. This has to do w/ the "Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction." We are looking at the o2 sensor in front of the big fan.

I'll be replacing this o2 sensor with a Denso universal brand ($30 Amazon).

How do you remove the old o2 sensor at both ends?
Will a new o2 sensor be destroyed by a manifold w/ small cracks, its got a small crack line?
Are there methods to bypass the p0135 code (spacers..?) to pass smog?

Will highly appreciate any advice. :scared:

Did you check whether fuse 15 is blown?

Re: CEL p0135 o2 sensor

Fuse 15 is not blown. Also, I took a look at the o2 sensor wire, I don't see any exposed copper.

Honestly I'd just get the Denso with the plug it'll make life a lot easier and its not that much more

Unclip the connectors from the bracket. Then unplug it from each other. For the other end either rent or buy a spark plug socket. https://contentinfo.autozone.com/zne...25001/image/4/

Is it a crack or leak? If its a leak it won't pass smog anyway.

No. People use that for the secondary O2 not the primary.

Will highly appreciate any advice. :scared:

Re: CEL p0135 o2 sensor

Update: Success !

I used some Liquid Wrench lube oil on the old o2 sensor.
10 minutes later, I used a wrench & the o2 sensor socket to remove it.
Header has an internal crack so I was very careful.
Was very grateful to have the o2 sensor socket available.....
Pulled out the old o2 sensor, thing was crusty white..
Wiped some 'anti-seize' on a new NTK oxygen sensor (its teeth), install was a breeze.
Reset the ecu by pulling out the - terminal on the battery for 20 mins....
Turned the car on...no check engine light! :)
Drove the the car for 40 miles and still no check engine light!
Saw some white smoke coming out the header though..
Either it's burning the Liquid Wrench liquid spray or stuff is coming out the crack.

Smog passed though. Win. Love you guys. :hugs:

most people will not recommend using universal O2 sensors they don't tend to hold up or work correctly i have some used O2 sensors for 40 shipped and they're plug and play no splicing.

Re: CEL p0135 o2 sensor

The universal (meaning no connector so splicing necessary) Denso sensor I spliced for my 93 Civic worked fine. Brand new Denso and NTK sensors for many models of Civic 1988-present run around $40 new at Amazon. Amazon has had the best prices for all three times I needed an oxygen sensor for my three different Civics.

The Honda OEM oxygen sensors will have either a Denso or NTK logo on it, so buying a Denso or NTK sensor through say Amazon is fine.

Re: CEL p0135 o2 sensor

I bought my NTK o2 sensor from Amazon for $43 shipped.

I was thinking about going with the $30 Denso route, splicing wires and all but screw that!
