CEL...New EGR Sensor?
I just love CELs. This is the third one I've had; I only have 22,1xx miles on my '00 Si, and I don't drive it that much, so when the CEL went on, I figured I might just need to drive around a bit, and it would go out, but it didn't; I took it to Honda (the second time they've checked a CEL for me), and they turned it off, and said it may not return, but as I pulled out of the lot to leave, it turned back on. The guy said it was a "Primary Heated O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage - code P0131" and that it apparently needed a new EGR valve to the tune of $250 + labor. I'm not a big fan of the stealership doing my labor @ $79/hr, so I was hoping I could do it myself; I'm downloading the Helms manual as we speak, but has anyone ever replaced an EGR valve? In addition, if I replace it, will the CEL simply disappear, or do I have to somehow still have it manually switched off (by Honda, etc.)? Thanks in advance for the insight and help.
Update: I've been told conflicting reports that the '00 Si does/does not have an EGR valve...I'm quite confused now.

Re: CEL...New EGR Sensor? (NR_si)
99-00 Si does NOT even have a ******* EGR valve! WTF were those dumbasses thinking?
If the code says primary o2 sensor, then replace the primary o2 sensor or at least make sure it's plugged in and no wires to it are chaffed (sp?).
Also that fuckstick should know that even IF you had an EGR valve the code thrown would have been "EGR lift sensor malfunction" and not something to do with an o2 sensor.
Idiots!
EDIT:
****'s under warranty bro. Take it to a dealership that doesn't have fucksticks manning their OBD2 scanner and have them replace your o2 sensor.

this is true.. the only eg/ek civics with egr are the vx and hx. if the 02 sensor is malfunctioning, or any part of the emissions system is failing, it should be covered under the federally mandated emissions control system warranty

Re: (dantastic)
Hmm, both of your replies confirmed my suspicions: the guys at my Honda dealer are complete idiots.
dantastic: Do you know any more about the federally mandated emissions control warranty? The car is almost four years old, though it's got barely any miles on it, so I'm wondering if it's still under that coverage.

Should be covered for at least 6 years and/or 80,000 miles. I understand you're technically out of the Honda 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, but anything emissions has an automatic extension.
Call in your VIN number to a different deale and tell them what CEL you have on. See what they tell you.
