Default CEL light takes time to turn off

Hi Guys! can someone help me on my car problem.

I own a 95' civic and lately I just noticed that every time it rains or if the weather is cold my CEL takes time to turn off thus making me wait for a few minutes before i may be able to start my car.

I have read in some post that the trouble may be due to its main relay and I've already replaced mine as well. For starters it was doing fine, shutting of in its normal pace, but as time goes by, especially when the weather is cold or is raining it goes to the same trouble of (taking to long to turn off) waiting a few minutes more before turning the CEL light turns off making starting the car longer than usual.

Please help me out anyone.

I will truly appreciate any knowledge that can be shared.

TIA!

so does the car not start with the cel on? or you just wait with it running for it to turn off?

Hi Cynical!

It does not start when the CEL light is on. I need to wait a couple of minutes or more for the CEL light to turn off before starting. I was thinking that the cause may be the fuel pump or the igniter perhaps.

If the replacement main relay is not new, then resolder it:

Next check whether hood fuse 31 or dash fuse 24 is loose.

Also clean and tighten the G101 ground attached to the thermostat housing:

Not sure exactly what you want or why, but none of the three temp sensors would cause the problem you are having.

Also check the two fuses I mentioned and the main relay plug terminals for corrosion or damage.
