CEL cyl. #1 missfiring? wtf
so lately ive been havin lil rough idle goes down to 500 rpm here n there and a CEL just came about. took it to my mech to read me the codes and there are two
missfiring cyl #1
fuel meter to lean
something of that nature he tightened up my exhaust system some bolts were loose says there was air being sucked in the exhaust system affecting the o2. and for the missfiring he says i need to spark plug wires.
sound right to you guys?

Could be a number of things...Could be spark or fuel problems...Could also be that you have a maladjusted valve/s or possibly a bent valve/s

First start off with a simple tune up. It could be your:
1 plug wires
2 fouled out plugs
3 bad pads inside the dizzy cap
4 bad rotor
5.clogged up fuel filter
6. sign of a failing fuel pump

Re: (eL)
yeah he tighten out the bolts got rid of the rattling and exhaust leaks sounds much better. guess ill check the spark n fuel. you should let me barrow your wires el.

Well, the exhaust leak causing a lean condition sounds right to me. Have you reset the ECU; Have the codes come back on?
As for the misfire, it could be the plug wires but it could also be the cap, rotor, plugs, coil, ignitor - anything that makes the spark happen or helps it get to the combustion chamber.
How old are you ignition system components; How many miles on'em?

Re: (dash_0n)
I had the same problem in my prelude...Like i said above could be a bent valve because thats what was wrong with mine...I replaced everything that seemed logical and it didnt work, so i still continued driving for about 2 months with a slightly bent valve. Better pray it isnt a valve
And do a compression test

Re: (LudeSH)
still haven't found the prob yet and no i have not been able to get a compression check done yet i dont see how it can be a valve problem im a very conservative driver and its a pretty new motor.
also i noticed when this first happend that my cyl #1 injector was turned towards 3 o'clock and i straightened this out am i not supposed to be able to turn an injector?

Re: (dash_0n)
all my injectors seem to work fine they all click when i put a screw driver to it even when im misfiring. the car seems fine when i first drive it idle is good etc... after 15mins or so thats when it does it again does this sound like a fuel pump dying to you guys?
btw i changed my fuel filter the slight hesitation went away when accelerating...
i noticed i had some ghetto plumbin for a fuel pressure gauge right before my fuel filter that leaked when it would misfire but when it didnt misfire it wouldnt leak my mech. says it leaks when there isnt enough fuel pressure does that mean its my fuel pump?
oh yeah if i let it sit and idle for about 10mins the cel will come on right away blinking...
and im still tryin to get that compression test done too
any thoughts appreciated
