Hi all,

I come here very frustrated with my 99 civic ex it was great until I had to get my engine replaced at 132000 miles. I bought it used from a girl last year and put 12000 miles on it before there was a tapping noise in the engine and en route to the garage the piston broke and i think its called a crank shaft that shot out through the bottom of the oil pan and I put a replacement motor D16Y8 with 72000 miles on it from my trusty mechanic. Ever since i have to motor replaced its been throwing the check engine light and the code p1457 code keeps coming up I have cleared the light 3 times and checked it at different places and the same code comes up. It does go away briefly on its own but comes right back after a day or two. I have replaced the gas cap and the light has gone away before I replaced the gas cap and come back after a day or two of driving.

What I have noticed it that when I delete the light the car drives perfectly. As soon as the CEL comes back on I notice retarded pick up where the car isn’t very willing to rev and it is the case everytime the CEL comes on slow pick up not reving quickly past 3000 rmp it feels as though the gas pedal is heavier.

I seriously need help regarding this issue. It’s a 1999 Civic ex automatic with 133000 miles and 72000 on the motor.

Please advise.

You have problem with leaking evap canister , some vacuum hose or valve is stuck ...
