Default CEL code 9

my car is throwing code 9, i have 96 civic sedan with an obd1 motor and p75 ecu, i wired the distrutor and the car runs great, accept the #9 cel code, does this mean i need a new distrbutor? thanks for the help.

First of all, what exact motor are you running?

I have the same problem except I have a 97 civic with a USDM LS motor and running an OBD1 PR4 ecu. Can anyone help us?

did you try with an obd2 ecu? mine work fine with an obd2 ecu but i wanna jump it back to obd1 so i can put in a turbo kit and get my car tune

no i tried that, i did a whole obd2 to obd1 conversion, the motor is an obd1 motor, i think i just need a new distributor, and a oxygen sensor. thank man.

My guess (provided its a good working Dist.) is that you redid the wiring wrong. But yes normally when these codes (CYL, TDC, CKP) come up it means time for a new dist.

I had to get a new distributor on my 2000 civic and it never gave me any codes. Just stopped running on my way home one day. 300 buks down the drain.

i redid the wiring, and still the code. im getting a rebuilt one from pep boys some time. thanks for the help
