CEL came on, speedometer not working
I have an '00 Si. I reversed up a small driveway and the CEL came on and now my speedo won't move off of 0mph.
Is my speedo electronically controlled, or cable controlled and would it breaking set off a CEL?
Advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Jason

Better explain to the noob how to pull a code.
JasinC19, take it to Autozone, they do it for free, or do a search on here"pulling cel codes" to get a thread on this topic. There are several of them.

It's electronically controlled, not cable controlled. Breaking the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) would set off a code #17 - the check engine light.
For how to check your codes without a scanner go here:

If you have a '96+ you can get a more accurate code with an OBD-II scanner (like "system too lean" or "system too rich" opposed to just an OBD-I general "fuel supply system."
