CEL 45 Fuel system too rich/lean & SRS blinks "10" & "3" TECH HELP
My CEL came on with code 45 "Fuel system running too rich/lean" and while I was checking the CEL my SRS light blinked 1 long and 3 shorts. So I'm assuming it's blinking codes 10 and 3 for the SRS if there is such a thing.
Any sugggestions for my CEL 45? I've re-timed my timing down between 14-15BTDC. Reset my ECU and it turned on again.
My SRS has been on for quite a while now and everytime i reset it it would come back within hours. Now it's blinking with the CEL. Giving me the codes 10 and 3.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Motor: D16y7 (OBDII)
Cliffs:
Code:
I'm throwing a CEL Code 45--Fuel system running too rich or lean.
Problems/symptoms:
Stutters/bogs when accelerating & between during normal driving.
Takes two cranks to start-up in the morning (I always prime the fuel).
Minor tune-up:
New spark plugs
New air filter
New fuel filter
Oil changed
Timing was off at 18+BTDC so I re-timed it at 16BTDC.

I've recently changed the fuel filter as well (Nippon, if it matters). A torque wrench wasn't used so it's hand tight. Could that also be the case...fuel pressure?

what car and setup first before we can hhelp you.
also most likely your o2 sensor is bad that's a 90 percent chance if you were running too rich.
code 10-3 for the srs i will look that up for you and get back

the srs code you got is 1 long and 3 short right?
srs code is 1-3 = short to power in the driver's airbag inflator

I've been getting the 45 code too lately. Well, ever since I put the turbo kit on. Damn I need to tune this damn thing.
Anyway, how many miles are on your cat? If you've been running rich you may have clogged it up with soot (not likely, but it's a possibility). Also, check your O2 sensor(s)

I'd say theres a good 90k on the cat...
I just bought a new o2 yesterday from a local but I haven't had the chance today to get tools to install it. I'll update on whether or not this is going to solve anything.

Ive managed to pry apart the o2 today and was I ever so happy! LOL
Anyway, I haven't had the chance to plug things up correctly because the wires from the o2 were too short. The harness will plug right up with a bit of stretching but its touching the header.
I'm afraid it will melt...suggestions anyone? maybe header wrap around the harness and hope its not going to melt? I really don't want to splice into the o2 to extend it...

Today I went ahead and attached the o2 sensor and wrapped it with header wrap so that the harness wouldn't melt while being next to the header itself. I also changed out the cap & rotor on the distributor.
RESULTS:
I ran it and it was still boggy but NO CEL CODES. I think I might have a clogged cat now... Is there a way to tell if your cat is clogged by sight?

Something may be restricted. Try seafoaming the engine. Also, yeah, check the cat visually if youd like. also, i know its hard to feel, but does it feel like your getting all the exhaust out? is it at normal pressure? my engine had problems from a o2 sensor as well. 2nd plug looks a lil rich. with the airbag, disconnect the ecu for over 5 minutes, and check the airbag connector wire which is in the steering wheel if youd like, steering wheel removal is

Re: (Redline96LX)
Thank you for the link, it seems helpful but I don't think it'll solve my SRS problem? The main concern isn't my SRS right now because I've been living with it for months.
Well as for the cat, I've put up a 'WTB' ad in the classifieds for locals in the South Cali area. I know there are people who are throwing them away so I'll probably get one for less than $20 (hopefully).

Pick up a high flow Carsound cat. Made by magnaflow. Good ****. I use one on my Turbo B16. No problems. And they're not too horribly expensive. I think I picked mine up for $60 on eBay.
