Default CEL #43

Okay hopefully this will be the last post I have to make about this new motor/swap. If you have seen any of my last few posts as of recent, you will know that I just got rid of an old motor setup and swapped in an all stock b18b. This motor started with the first turn of the key, and I bought it from a very reputable seller! Now, the number of issues I had before I finally got the motor fired were unbelievable. This is expected though, when buying part after part seperate, and trying to mix OEM and JDM engine parts, as well as different years and chassis etc, etc. I finally got it right though, and I have been able to drive the car. The problem is that it is only getting around 16 mpg! WTF? It is running fine now and idles good. The only issue right now is that some times there is hardly any power when you attempt to accelerate under 3.5K RPMs, the motor completely bogs. I have had no CELs until riding down the road a couple days ago, I got on it for like the first time since I have had the new motor in there...I had been breaking in the clutch and flywheel for the last like 4 tanks of gas, and I finally got a CEL. I immediately pulled over and checked it and got a CEL#43. I had never seen this code, and was not sure what can cause it. I have done some searching and it is saying it might be the o2 sensor? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

mm try replacing the o2 sensor to get rid of the code.

If it's bogging down I'd go ahead and double/tripple/quaddrouple check the timing

Yeah man, the timing has been checked 2098209452 times...haha. The wierd thing is, it only bogs sometimes, not everytime. I just really wish I knew wtf the problem was, so I could just fix it and be done!

The car is a 1992 Civic Si. I am running a stock b18b with a b16 transmission. I am using an unmodified p75 ecu. What is pissing me off the most is that almost every single part external on the motor is brand new, or in perfect working condition(as they were either bought new, or tested recently). I am stumped!

Just went through the same **** with my 94 ex coupe, with a stock d15b vtec in it.

Changed out the o2 sensor, cleared the code and it runs absolutely perfect.

Was it only throwing the code randomly...mine doesn't throw the code like every time I drive it...only occasionaly.

Yeah, that is exactly what mine was doing! I just replaced the sensor like 30 mins ago, and it seems to be running perfect! I have a couple small vaccum issues, which are also affecting it's performance a tad bit! All I have to do now, is check gas mileage after I drive it over the next week or so....just a quick question, besides bad timing, bad o2 sensor, and maybe bad pcv/spark/wires, what will cause MAJOR gas mileage decrease? I only ask because I have replaced all of the others with brand new parts, so just incase my problem hasn't gone away, what else could cause this...oh yeah, and my map sensor is perfect, so no worries on that either.

Well the car is still running good after the o2 sensor, but I made a 100 mile round trip to my buddys house last night and I now have a half tank of gas...when I filled it all the way up before leaving!!! I am so sick of this car!
